PREAMBLE

The Ethical Executive Board (EEB) of the International Teachers Association (ITA) is the ethical authority and moral compass of the Association. It is established to safeguard discipline, mutual respect, integrity, professionalism, accountability, transparency, justice, and inclusivity across all ITA members, operations, programs, partnerships, and global engagements.

The EEB exists to ensure that ITA remains firmly rooted in ethical leadership, human dignity, equity, educational excellence, and the universal values of respect, fairness, and social responsibility. In a rapidly evolving global education ecosystem, the Ethical Executive Board serves as the guardian of trust between ITA, educators, learners, institutions, governments, partners, and the global community..

MANDATE AND PURPOSE

The Ethical Executive Board is mandated to:

• Uphold and enforce the ITA Code of Discipline, Privileges, Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
• Provide strategic ethical leadership and policy direction.
• Oversee ethical compliance across projects, ITA exams, governance, administration, accreditation, training, and partnerships.
• Protect the rights, dignity, and welfare of members, teachers, learners, administrators, and all stakeholders.
• Promote ethical decision-making, accountability, transparency, and justice in all ITA affairs.
• Serve as an independent authority for ethical review, dispute resolution, and disciplinary oversight.  

The EEB ensures that ethical considerations remain central to all strategic, membership, operational, and institutional decisions of ITA.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Ethical Executive Board shall:

1. Develop, review, and update the ITA Code of Ethics/Standards and Professional Conduct.
2. Provide ethical oversight for ITA policies, programs and projects, accreditation frameworks, and partnerships.
3. Investigate complaints, misconduct allegations, and ethical breaches, ensuring due process.
4. Recommend corrective actions, disciplinary measures, and restorative justice approaches.
5. Serve as the highest ethical adjudicatory authority within ITA.
6. Advise/consult the Executive Council and Secretariat on ethical governance and leadership best practices.
7. Promote continuous ethical education, training, and awareness for ITA members globally.
8. Uphold confidentiality, neutrality, professionalism, and independence in all proceedings.

STRUCTURE AND COMPOSITION

The Ethical Executive Board shall consist of distinguished professionals drawn from education, law, ethics, governance, leadership, psychology, human rights, and conflict resolution.

All members shall be persons of proven objectiveness, integrity, professional credibility, moral authority, and global outlook.

AUTHORITY AND INDEPENDENCE

The Ethical Executive Board shall operate independently and without interference from any internal or external authority. Its decisions shall be guided solely by the ITA Provisional Constitution, Code of Ethics, international best practices, and universal human rights principles.

The Board shall possess full authority to:

• Initiate investigations.
• Conduct hearings and ethical reviews.
• Issue binding ethical directives.
• Recommend sanctions, red alerts, revocations, suspensions, or expulsions.
• Provide ethical clearance and certification.

ETHICAL LEADERSHIP AND GLOBAL IMPACT

The Ethical Executive Board stands as a global symbol of ethical leadership in education. Through its work, ITA commits itself to building trust, promoting responsible leadership, protecting educational stakeholders, and advancing global educational justice.

The Board aligns its mandate with the ITA Constitutional Protocols, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

CONCLUSION
